TransContainer asks to raise 2021 container transit tariff subsidy

MOSCOW, Nov 5 (PRIME) -- Railway container operator TransContainer asks to raise subsidies for the reduced container traffic tariffs of Russian Railways in 2021 at least 10 times, CEO Alexander Isurin said on Thursday.

"400 million rubles allocated by the government to subsidize transit do not suffice to continue developing the route. We know that a similar route from China was developed for many years with Chinese subsidies. I am asking the coordinating council to support the initiative to raise the subsidies for 2021 at least 10 times to 4 billion rubles," Isurin said.

The official said that the measure would support further growth of transit from Korea, Japan and China through Far Eastern ports to Europe and back.
